'When it comes to Electric Guitar Tuition, look no further than Pete Mitchell. He does not teach as a ‘sideline’, he lives and breathes guitaring. He will give you as little or as much technical doctrine as you require, but if you just want to play, well, that is also cool.
I had tried to play the guitar from video and books, and failed miserably due to fingers like bananas, and the inability to get my hands and arms in a position to form ‘textbook’ chords.
When I started with Pete, he immediately formulated a set of valid chords customised for me, which, with all my idiosyncrasies, I could achieve. This meant I could get up and running playing the guitar in a very short time, which, in turn, brought on my confidence to continually progress, and push the boundaries of my limited ability.
Pete’s major attribute as a tutor, is his skill to convey his vast music and guitaring knowledge to his pupils, due to his immense experience of playing, writing, teaching and gigging, allowing you to maximise your ability and further your enjoyment, of playing one of the most difficult instruments to master.
I cannot recommend Pete highly enough, as a Teacher, an inspiration, and an all together good guy'

'I've been receiving tuition from Pete for over 6 years now. I started as an absolute beginner and from the first lesson was inspired to progress with the guitar. His teaching style puts you at ease and he uses a great blend of theory and practical application that allows you to start playing fast - and enjoy learning the instrument.
Pete's passion for blues guitar and enthusiasm to share really does shine through. I'm still learning new skills and techniques, and thoroughly enjoy my lessons - whether jamming or learning theory. I'd highly recommend tuition from the 'Stratmaster'

'Whilst flirting with the guitar in my youth it wasn't till later on in life that I decided to learn to play the guitar properly. For the past five years Pete has been making this possible with his unique style of teaching and his ability to teach all styles of guitar to a high degree in a way that makes it possible for the beginner to understand and grasp, whether it be practical or the theory. Lessons are always enjoyable and productive, they never usually end until progress has been made and we've moved on.
Pete can teach the guitar and can certainly play, for me this is best illustrated in the opening line of his song Outside Looking In....."started out in life with a passion and a good sense of humour" this does perhaps best sum up Pete's enthusiasm for the guitar together with his personality'

'If you need a guitar teacher – look no further!!
I have always wanted to play the guitar and, as I was nearing 50, I could see that it would never happen! Too busy and absolutely no music ability whatsoever! I had tried in the past but never got past an ‘E Chord’! One last go I thought, and I went to see Pete Mitchell.
I was immediately impressed by Pete’s ability to put me at ease. He found out what kind of music that I would like to play and even after the first lesson I was playing something that sounded like a song! Amazing!
I have learned a huge number of songs with Pete and I can now pick up a guitar and play with confidence that I never thought I would have. I continued to have lessons for over 3 years with Pete and have even managed to pass on some of the techniques that Pete has taught me, to my son. He is always extremely patient and encouraging - essential when teaching beginners.
Pete’s credentials are well documented – just check out the internet for the songs he has written. He’s even an author! Many people can play the guitar well but they cannot pass that knowledge to others. Pete’s own playing is inspirational but he can also teach.
I would highly recommend him as your guitar tutor'

'Over the years Pete has pretty much taught me from scratch right through to playing lead/solo's.
Pete's teaching style and musical references feel more like an education than lessons, and not only is he a very talented and adaptable teacher, but he's a great guy and I'd highly recommend him to anyone.'

I came across Pete when I was around 12 years old and contacted him for lessons. I went to Pete's home to meet him and have a chat with him about what sort of style I was thinking of playing and instantly he came across as a very friendly welcoming guy with a real passion for playing and teaching the guitar. I had lessons every single week with Pete for around 3 years and now I am 20 playing and teaching guitar myself.
Pete is not only an amazing singer/songwriter/guitarist but extremely friendly and welcoming. I stopped lessons with him nearly 5 years ago but still endeavour to keep in contact with him and follow his latest musical accomplishments.

I'm a 31 year old Londoner, and Pete's been teaching me for 18 months now. In that time I've progressed significantly from knowing a few basic chords to now having a repertoire of over 15 songs, involving a variety of techniques. I now can't put my guitar down and owe it to him! I've been more than happy with his teaching.... he's very patient, know's exactly where I'm at and where to go next, and like myself he oozes passion for rock n roll with excellent musical taste. He's a genuinely nice bloke, always welcoming with a story to tell, as well as being a damn good guitar player! I would highly recommend Pete as a teacher.........I'm just gutted that he's moving away, as he will definitely be hard to replace.

I have played guitar for a number of years and performed regularly in a band in front of as many as 500 - 600 people. However, my playing was in a bit of a rut: the same old licks, and pretty much rooted to a couple of positions on the fret-board. I went along to see Pete hoping to pick up a few ideas and freshen things up.
Pete is the real deal, a gigging pro for many years, It was clear straight away that he lived and breathed guitar, the blues...rock and roll! Pete is easy going and made me feel at ease from the first lesson. It's great jamming with him, and I always feel comfortable to take solos, try things out, and not worry about messing up. The great thing is that Pete always seems to be enjoying it as much as me!
Lessons with Pete have brought a new dimension to my guitar playing. He has opened up the fret-board, showing me ways to improvise a solo moving between all scale positions. He has taught me to target specific notes, and play the changes by building licks around the chord triads.
Pete is a patient teacher, always encouraging and never a clock watcher. We're often jamming away one and a half hours into a one hour lesson! Thoroughly recommended!
